Poem For the Queen who gave birth

Belle Verdiglione Photography

One of my patient gave birth recently and I wanted to send her a poem. One that will express my admiration For the Queen who gave birth.
I couldn’t find anything satisfying (and to be fair couldn’t find much).

So I wrote one, untitled so far.
Version française plus bas.

To you Queen, Goddess, Warrior.
To you who’ve seen the Underworld,
It’s shades, depth and unspeakable truth.
Who comes back shattered, altered and wounded.
Who feels the air coming through your whole body.
Who can’t hold yourself yet.
Who doesn’t really know what happened.
In your body.
In your Womb.
Who stands at the Threshold.

Let time wraps its warm arms around you.
Wait for the unfolding of your wrinkles.
Be curious of the millions of ripples
Inhabiting your reshaping inner landscapes.
Meet and greet the wild woman within you.
Be mesmerized by the width of your being.
And be certain that shades will rise again.

When they do come
Feel on your head the richness of your crown,
As Queen, Goddess, Warrior,
Mother.
